We are here to support any person affected by the death of a baby. We offer one-to-one befriending, telephone support and advice as well as regular group support meetings.


We work with people in Bedfordshire and surrounding areas and all of our services are provided free of charge by local volunteers - Beds SANDS receives no funding other than by donation.

 Would you like to help other bereaved parents by becoming a Befriender?

 If you are interested then please contact us for more information. 

 Also, there are various roles within Bedfordshire Sands that need filling, and we are urging our members to help.  Any amount of time you can give would be a great help, and ensure we can continue to run and help other parents.

Pride of Bedfordshire Awards


In November 2012 Bedfordshire Sands were nominated for Fundraiser of the year at the Pride of Bedfordshire Awards that were held at the Bedford Corn Exchange, and were awarded the Runner up position



Bedford Hospital Bereavement Suite


In April 2012 the Butterfly Suite was completed within the Cygnet Wing at Bedford Hospital.  The hospital worked very closely with Bedfordshire Sands in order to build this much needed room for all future bereaved parents, and to ensure it is suitable to meet the needs of the families and their babies.

We are very proud to know that this room will help so many people in such a tragic time and will help them have memories that they can cherish forever.
